Seaweed Factory and Bathhouse, Balbriggan
This project provided a challenging site location, housed 4 meters down into the cliff edge with the main elevation facing north out to the Irish sea. The ground floor accommodates a seaweed factory, the first floor caters for a bathhouse utilising products produced on site. With the building buried into the cliff face, the retaining wall has a dual purpose, to retain the cliff and glean geothermic heat from the land. A driving idea of this project was that heat and water heal the body. |
Urban 2012 Cork Street, Dublin / RIAI Travelling Scholarship / Short listed
Urban 2012 addressed high density mixed use housing within the city centre in addition to the re-establishment of Cork St’s facade. The project’s commercial units including shops, offices & a community library, which are located on the busy street front & provided a transitional zone from the public street through to private accommodate. The composite apartments of brick & timber are a-lined on an east-west axis to form garden streets, echoing the historic fabric of the area. |

Linen Hall, School of Thought
This fifth year project was the testing ground for thesis proposals, my idea centred around the creation of identity through the physical occupation of space, both in terms of architecture & the body. Here, I re-imagined the ground floor space of the existing DIT Linen Hall, creating an communal space for the student body to meet, discuss, enjoy & relax. |
