Joint submission with BRENDAN FEENEY for the ArtScape Design Competition @ Ards Forest Park, Donegal
An Cruach Rua is a timber structure that
stands aside the waters of Clonmass Bay. The shelter is conceived of as a continual evolution of lookout points moving up through the landscape. An Cruach Rua epitomises sustainable construction & the use of locally sourced materials. Mirroring the pattern of the crowded forest, the densely packed vertical members of the façade are arranged in deference to the configuration of the trees & their relationship to the sky. Playful in its appearance, the graduated red shelter beckons to visitors from the forest & the shoreline alike. |
